Coconut Oil!

This is a great oil! It has so many wonderful properties. Coconut oil is staple in Indian haircare for glossy, strong hair! It cools the scalp whilst being a GREAT conditioner for hair.
Regular use of this oil strengthens the hair: coconut oil can penetrate into the hair shaft more than any other oil. It is able to penetrate 90% into the hairshaft where olive oil can only boast 25%. It aslo protects the hair against protein loss. Studies have shown that coconut oil use can reduce hair fall by up to 50%!
It also makes the hair softer, meaning more manageable hair.

I love coconut oil, obviously and I buy it by the bucket load! I've noticed it helped with sealing my moisture in after washing my hair but also added something EXTRA when mixed into my deep conditioning treatments.
I am currently using it in lieu of deep conditioning treatments every week to see what it can do for my hair.

To use it, simply warm it up a bit and apply some to the roots and tips of your hair. Leave overnight and shampoo in the morning. You will see results also when it is used as the final step in you hair moisturizing routine. Use a leave-in and then "seal" it in with a dime-size of coconut oil.

A bit about me!

Welcome to my blog! My name is Lola and I'm 25 years old.

I'm a focussed, determined person and I believe in doing all that I do, well! I'm a caring, outgoing and fun-loving person. I love making people laugh and I always strive to keep a positive outlook on life.

It's nice to have a place to share my experiences and, hopefully, help others through it. I'm currently doing my first few training years as a junior doctor but I have plans to become a business woman in the near future. I aim to help other black women in whatever capacity I can.

For the past year and a bit, (since July 2008) I've been consciously growing and maintaining a healthy head of hair. I have done some research in the past year, which has helped me in this pursuit and I will be sharing techniques and products that have worked for me. Please remember that this is what "I" have tried so far and found to work for "me". I am not a licensed cosmetologist nor a dermatologist.

My hair is texlaxed 4a/4b type hair (texlaxed = slighty relaxed, underprocessed on purpose to loosen my curl pattern). It is fine-stranded but there's alot of it as long as I take care of the ends. My hair length is currently just past BSL (bra strap length) at the back, with shorter sides (growing them out). My goal length is Waist length!

I am currently trying to wean myself away from buying too many products. I will only be using what I have tried and tested and some recommended home-made treatments rather than buying any more NEW products. (let's see how that works out!)

That's enough for now! Please check back for my reviews, posts on haircare techniques and pics on my haircare journey.
